Entertaining and well written as are all of M.D. Cooper's stories. Bought the collection, VERY DISAPPOINTED that it is not a stand alone collection and reader is left with NO ENDING and must by the next collection of books if wanting to see what happens with main character of story. FALSE ADVERTISING to describe it as "the final book in the collection" as this infers the story has some semblance of completion. Would have given it 5 stars if it was not necessary to buy the next collection to have an ending. One wonders if this next collection will do the same.......Product details

As at least one review pointed out, nothing really new here, but so says the author.
That said, I have not read anything just like this and the plot and characters are largely good to very good.
It's an epic struggle and humanity been interstellar for some time without FTL.
I strongly recommend this serie and I am now awaiting the fourth installement.
Great characters and action as always with Cooper's books. Good follow-up to its predecessor in the series. One star deducted for the unnecessary seamy R-rated scene descriptions which add nothing to the plot or purpose of the books. Otherwise a very enjoyable read, especially for the price. On to the next book!
The continued adventures of our impressive Tanis, are as always very good. This book in my opinion suffers a bit from transitional exposition, and its ending is frustrating as we will have to wait for the next book. The structure of the book could have done without the secuel direct connect, as with the first one. It does work better but also it has a better flow. My understanding from the author's website is that this and the previous two books are actually precuels to the coming one. Which was supposed to be book one, we will see it ends working out.
Strong women leaders - a treat! I couldn't put it down! If you like space battles this author delivers. Held my attention from beginning to end. The characters are well-developed and engaging. Fast-paced, interesting. Aeon14 is a fascinating universe. Total page-turner
I enjoyed the book. There were a few problems for me with the plot. The super powered villain seemed to end it all too easily after all the other foiled plots. And the utter destruction of the Sirius fleet was just meaningless to me. They were faceless and didn't seem important.
Enjoying the series, but starting to think they will never make it. The ending was very odd to me. The damage and ejection were contrived to throw us into another impossible situation.
The Myrrdan character is not too believable. The series is running afoul of sub-lightspeed travel and lightspeed communications. The time gaps are too large. While the author skips over them gracefully, I think real characters would lose their interest in the conflicts. So some motivation is lacking. In the 4th book (the next one), the author invents FTL, making it more interesting, but without a doubt moving this series into the world of fantasy. Otherwise this one, the 3rd, concerned with terraforming, is the most nearly "hard SF" one of the series.
The problems of conducting interstellar war under these conditions are laid bare, which makes the case for the author's contention in the next novel that FTL will cause a decline of civilization. On the strength of this I raised my rating from 3 stars to 4.
While better than book two this one got a bit tedious at times because the beginning was just Tanis and Joe puttering around for 60 or so years keeping the AI, Bob, company during the flight to Kep. Then it kept jumping over years to get to a point in the future when ship repairs to Intrepid were done and the planet had been teraformed. There is some action towards the end. The beginning and middle just dragged in my opinion.
I seriously hope the author just skips over the flight to the next system the Intrepid is headed to and starts the next book as the ship arrives. There would be no point since there is no longer any saboteurs or evil bad guys to delay the flight at this point.
